Re: Percussion Synthesizer

I can't compile it on my Xubuntu 16.04 because it complains about a too old cmake.

Re: Ardour and calf-fluidsynth: which midi channel is used?

Each CALF fluidynth LV2 instance has settings for each channel (soundfont per channel). That's not always what you want and can be confusing.

Fluidsynth-dssi is much simpler. One instance, one soundfont.

Re: Which DAW to pick?

I'd like to add my setup if I didn't already. I use a 2nd audio interface instead of a DI box. - Interface 1 (Scarlett 2i4), own jack instance ("default"), medium to big latency/buffersize for DAW and "main audio" - Interface 2 (Scarlett Solo), own jack instance ("git")...

Re: "Die Ferne" (some things should stay where they are)

You absolutely nailed the guitar solo! I am very impressed with your playing. Overall the sound is mixed and balanced well. Very professional sounding. The time you have spent setting up your studio was well spent. All the hard and genius guitar parts are not played by me but by a friend, Patrick F...

Re: Focusrite scarlet solo into Reaper

But my experience with ALSA is that it worked directly, out of the box, without the need to setup or connect anything or manually run a server on the background. That's the reason why I asked for ALSA and no jack ;) With all respect for jack lovers. Mastering ALSA isn't that easy when it comes to s...

Re: Focusrite scarlet solo into Reaper

Have the same problem right now. Don't know why it happened. Until yesterday I worked with Linux Mint Cinnamon (18 ?) With a Focusrite Solo, Reaper worked directly out of the box. Since today, I switched to another OS (Linux Mint XFCE 19), and installed Reaper again. Why? If you don't know why some...

Re: Song for Evelyn

I just posted a new recording for my album-in-progress, an instrumental piece dedicated to my baby girl who died: https://alansanderson.band/2019/05/16/song-for-evelyn/ . Writing and recording this tune has been really therapeutic for me. A few firsts on this recording: My first time using ZynAddSu...

Intel might oppose. All those fixes make machines slower so people have to buy faster CPUs or CPUs with more cores. Is there something better in the world of capitalism than having others pay for own failures?

Re: Make Linux fast again

Fast but not safe. For computer which is not connected to network ever, that might be ok option. I'd say for a single user workstation you're still safer than with any Windows system. Most exploits affect people who have different customers on the same machine and have to keep their address spaces ...

Re: Pitch detector/display plugin

Does anyone know of a plugin, preferably LV2 but VST is fine, that can display the pitch of an incoming audio signal? It doesn't have to do any pitch adjustment I just want to see the detected pitch. Thanks I'd add CALF Pitch Tools. Do you have a link? I don't see any pitch tools on the Calf Studio...

Re: recent projects show up twice in Ardour because of symlink

Did you try deleting the project list in Ardour? How can I do this? I'd like to try this first since it would be the easiest solution. ............................................................................................. @zoco: Did you also work with symlink for the directory? ................
