Re: Help for Prepare Linux Mint for Real-Time audio

The easy way (the kind of way I use whenever possible) is to install indicator-cpufreq. Gives you a simple way to switch between powersave and performance mode.

Should work anywhere indicator applets work--I'm pretty sure that includes Mint.

Current list of commercial plugins?

Just in the last two weeks I've read here about the availability of Linux-native plugins from Illformed, Auburn Sounds and ToneLib. This took me by surprise. Aside from some synths, I previously only knew of Overtone, Harrison, U-he and Tracktion plugins being available for Linux. Is this a trend? A...

Re: Last Summer

It's a very basic track and recording, but although I started thinking of how I could work on it, add crescendos, more instruments and pathos and impact and so on, I decided not to overdo it, and keep it as it came instead. Good call, it's beautiful as-is. You truly captured a feeling in those stru...

Re: Auburn Sounds , release free plugins on, VST and LV2

I tried all three Auburn plugins this morning in Mixbus using the VST versions. They work flawlessly and sound quite good. The Graillon is quite something. It's not going to put Antares out of business, but playing around with the settings it can yield some gentle/realistic results or go full-on Che...

Have you used these? They look like a lot of fun, especially the nasty sounding pitch manipulator.

That's what I thought when listening.

Great energy! Made me nostalgic to remember being able to dance to music like this.

Re: My list of too much gear.

Convincing Country style drums in a DAW are extremely difficult, VERY good work!! And holy sh*t the guitars and the steel sound gorgeous!! I don't want to derail but thanks guys. GMaq, that's your Black Pearl set ;) I've got a friend who's going to add a proper Tele solo in the middle, so there's m...

Re: My list of too much gear.

All I'm saying is that we are a bit spoiled nowadays. And we're led to believe that producing is very easy if you would just learn how to use a computer/DAW. It's not. I for instance make a "click track" (yes: an audio track!) by recording the audio signal from the "sync out" of...

Re: My list of too much gear.

Fun gear list Digital Larry. I used to covet your Earthwood something fierce! That's a rare bird. I think there are a few of us here who are old-school with approach. The modern grid obsession is not my cup of tea, with everything perfectly tuned and time-aligned. I like songs and organic sounds and...

Re: My opinion about everything (TL;DR)

I've concluded that what I'm trying to do is not actively being pursued by SW vendors. Something like a Boss RC-505 or the Electro Harmonix 5 track looper are more in line, but I really do NOT want to buy hardware to solve this problem as they have their own set of constraints. DL, I've quite enjoy...

Re: Do you want more people to use Linux for music?

This thread is really interesting. I think most of the folks here are highly technically oriented individuals who are are curious about computers, and care deeply about software freedom. Many of the active users on the forum have created the projects that I use to make music with (I am extremely gra...

Nice list!

I couldn't find the excellent theme song to the OSMP of yore, but here are the stems.

Re: Looking for guidance in building a system to replace what I use with Windows.

Have a look at https://lsp-plug.in/ Plenty of dynamics plugins there. LSP for sure and also Calf . In the proprietary world, you can use Presswerk (which may be my favorite plugin of all time) as a limiter and some of Harrison's plugins will also help with mastering tasks. You'll need to jump in an...
